The Ministry of Health & Wellness is reminding eligible students and healthcare professionals that applications for the 2026 Dr. Barry Wint Memorial Scholarship Programme will close on Friday, July 10. The Ministry is encouraging all qualified applicants pursuing studies in health-related disciplines to take advantage of this opportunity to receive financial support for their education while contributing to the future of Jamaica's public health system.

Named in honour of former Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Barry Wint, the scholarship programme reflects the Government's commitment to strengthening the country's healthcare workforce by investing in the education and training of professionals in priority health disciplines.

Minister of Health & Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, CD, MP, said the scholarship remains a critical investment in the future of healthcare delivery in Jamaica. "The Dr. Barry Wint Memorial Scholarship Programme is an investment in the future of Jamaica's healthcare system. By supporting the development of highly skilled professionals in specialized fields, we are strengthening our capacity to deliver quality healthcare services and improve health outcomes for all Jamaicans."

Successful applicants may receive up to J$1 million per year of study and will pursue studies in priority areas including Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, Child and Adolescent Health, Geriatric Health, Health Information and Informatics, Health Policy and Planning, and Biomedical Engineering.

Graduate and postgraduate students who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will be bonded to serve within Jamaica's public health sector for a stipulated period upon completion of their studies.
