Jamaica welcomes emergency medical team from Spain

Dr the Hon Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health and Wellness (second from left), Her Excellency Dr Erja Askola, EU Ambassador to Jamaica (third from right), and His Excellency José María Fernández López de Turiso, Spanish Ambassador to Jamaica (second from right), shared a photo moment alongside Mr Ian Stein, PAHO/WHO Representative for Jamaica, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands (left), and Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith, Permanent Secretary and Head of the Jamaican Foreign Service, ahead of the arrival of the 80-member Spanish health team that landed in Jamaica on Wednesday, 5 November 2025 to support the emergency field hospital to be established at the Falmouth Hospital—an initiative that forms part of the European Union’s continued support for Jamaica’s post-hurricane recovery in partnership with the Government of Spain.
